Unfortunately, the Constitution specifically forbids any amendment that would make the Senate population-based. Fortunately, there's still a way to fix the Senate. Article 5 doesn't forbid amendments from changing the number of Senators per state. It only says that each state must get the same number. And zero is a number. As such, Article 5 does not prohibit an amendment to abolish the Senate entirely.

As for expanding the Supreme court and adding more states? You're thinking too small. SCOTUS should be expanded to 13 seats, not just 11. The number being set at 9 came from the Courts of Appeals having 9 circuits, with each Supreme Court justice corresponding to one of the circuits. There's now 13 circuits, so 13 justices would make perfect sense. Appointments should also no longer be for life. There should be a fixed 18-year term for each justice. For states, why stop at DC and Puerto Rico? Go ahead and give Guam and the Virgin Islands statehood as well. And fix the other flaw in Congress that keeps it from being property representative: increase the size of the House. It's been 435 seats since 1912. The US population has more than tripled since then. If the House size were increased to account for population growth, the vastly larger number of seats would make it vastly more difficult to gerrymander. Every House district could be of roughly equal population (they currently aren't, on account of small states that only have one Representative, and states that barely have enough population to get a 2nd or 3rd seat). A much larger House would also mean there'd no longer even be a need to abolish the electoral college. It would become near-impossible for the popular vote winner to lose the electoral college. And best of all, this doesn't require an amendment. It would simply be an act of Congress.

I couldn't possibly disagree with you more with regard to jailing Trump. Democrats should to absolutely everything to prosecute him for his many crimes. I don't care whether there would be a political benefit, it should be done because he's a criminal. One of the worst criminals in history.

If they go low, we stomp their throats. That's how it needs to be from now on.
