It's only the terminology of autism that's recent, not the medical condition. There are well documented cases that show all the signs of autism in the early 1700s, well before the existence of vaccines and GMOs. And it's highly likely that many of the cases that superstitious people interpreted as "demonic possession" throughout history were actually autism.
