It means the Republican Party dies, and the Democratic Party splits to form both a progressive party and a center-right conservative party. Far better than the current situation where we have a far-right conservative party that actually gets to hold power, while the left, center-left, and center-right all have to be contained in a single party.

@Styracosaurus McGillicuddy There is no "outside the two party box". It's structurally impossible for more than two parties to be viable in the American electoral system.
