  1. His mom must have been a good person despite all, when you listen to how nice he talks and thinks and behaves. He grew up to be a very pleasant person.

  4.  @nakkadu  Exactly! And the way he behaves and speaks calmly and nice, shows to me that she was a good caretaker despite whatever she did. On the other hand, I just rmembered how nice and likeable the Turpin children are, and their parents were awful. So maybe I shouldn't give credit to the parents after all. Maybe children turn out either fine or awful despite of how they are treated. I really don't know.

  5.  @ryanhelton1865  but obviously she didn't have that strong grip on him anyway,since he was able to make up his own mind and realize the cult wasn't for him, he wanted away.
