I was in Jerusalem old city in the end of the 80's when a Palestinian/Arabic man infront of me "peacefully" stabbed a Jewish man to death, who was walking infront of him. The Palestinian/Arabic guy got away but I don't know if they caught him later. However they closed the Old town quickly, and I remember the soldiers using teargas near Jaffogate while they searched for the guy. I got it in my eyes, it was terrible but not at any point was I angry; my only thought was "do whatever you have to so that you'll catch the murderer". I was a Scandinavian young tourist backpacking through Israel. If this was today; pro-Palestinians in London and America would feel heartbroken for "the poor Palestinians walking peacefully in Jetusalem who had to suffer from the teargas that was suddenly launched straight into their eyes just to humiliate them" amd then thousands of pro-,Palestinians would march in solidarity of screaming, acting Palestinians rolling on the streets because of the teargas! I can tell you no one screamed, no one was rolling on the streets, everyones eyes was just tearing up and burning badly for a few minutes and the air was quite white-grey for a moment. Nothing traumatic just felt safe knowing there were soldiers trying to catch a murderer.
