  1. the checkpoints used to excist only between Israel and Eilat, as I remember it. I had a Palestinian bf from Ramallah and we took the bus to Eilat several times, at the checkpoint they checked his documents while he was sitting on his seat, evetytime, he didn't care about it, he said he understands them. The checking took 3 minutes. This was in 84-86, BEFORE Palestinians started with the constant suicidebombings in Israeli busses and streets and restaurants. There might have been checkpoint somewhere else too but I only remember the one to Eilat. We traveled to Haiva, Akko, Tel Aviv, Tiberias and there was never any problems for him. When the suicidebombers started he decided to leave, he moved somewhere to Scandinavia, got married and is until today working in the same business he started with. He loved living in Israel until fanatical Palestinians destroyed everything. He still misses it the way it was before,back in the 80's.
