But at least he'll be on death row until he finally is beeing put down. Beeing in an ordinary life-sentence he'll still be able to work within the prison, study even, get mail from fanatic simple women who admire murderers...

@imagindigO2 but could be he wanted the opposite..if he's smart enough he begged for his life to be saved when in fact he WANTS to be put down, but he wants it in HIS way.
