  1. It's a matter of taste. Some people HATES coconut-smell. For some people it gives migrane. But so what? If a BLACK kid smells coconut shhhhh, don't say anything!!! Youcan't say anything because she is BLACK and that makes YOU a racist. If she is WHITE you could ask her mom please don't put the coconut-oil in her hair, it smells so strong!! But if she is BLACK, then SUFFER.

  2.  @isas8627  I on the other hand admire her for beeing confident enough to say that it smells, I have had kids, WHITE kids, in my groups that smell dirty, when some parents refuse to use shampoo in the kids hair...after a hot summerday, and a hot week, and month..and NO SHAMPOO, only water, the smell is horribly disgusting!!! Me and the other nannies in these groups simply avoids as much as we can to hold these few kids near us, or on our laps, but we are too embarrassed to say to the parents that yourkids hair smells disgusting!!!! You know, their clothes smell too, and their beds were they nap, it is horrible. I am white, these kids are white, but I suffer and stay away from them, I wish I could woman-up and say something...luckily it is usually only one kid in each group and only about once every second year, who have these parents who refuses shampoo..

  5. But you know,some people can't stand coconut in any shape, they can be allergic or just disgusted by the smell. I love coconut but my sister can't with the smell, not body-lotion or anything with coconut. BUT of course it would be possible to say it to the mom kindly, with respect. In my class we had a girl(a white girl) with eucalyptusoil in her hair...it was horrible smell, I could not be near her but we managed to never let her know, the other teacher had her in her groups whenever we worked in small groups. Some of the other kids used to ask what is smelling? from time to time but we just said oh it's probably something from outside.. I wish parents would think about this before putting strong smells in their childrens hair or clothes.

  6.  @josefinethesaltydemonpuff6708  apple does not have that strong smell like coconut. Coconut has a very heavy smell. If you put your child in daycare and you expect the teachers to have a good relation with your kid, and to sit beside them and hold them on their lap, then use products with less smell, and keep your child clean. The smell of dirty hair, or the smell of pee(if you don't wash your babys but in the mornings...)is horrible!!!
