Umm, China has been capitalist since the late 70s with the Deng reforms. It merely maintains a communist party that supports the capitalist reforms, or whatever their leader says (currently Xi).

@kennnnn I don't know. I view capitalism like a body and monopolies, corruption, etc as diseases/growths that need to be removed via surgery or other treatments (social welfare, progressive taxation, anti-monopoly safeguards,etc).

@Natpad_027 If a person doesn't work in a capitalist system, he either becomes homeless or goes on welfare, or can earn passive income through investments. If a person doesn't work in a socialist society, what happens? Is he forced to work since he can't lose his home? What if he refuses to work? Jail?

 @THEREALZENFORCE And China only brought up quality of life after the market reforms of Deng in the late 70s. Unfortunately, it kept the authoritarian political system.

@kevincrady2831 Amazon and Walmart doesn't have govt powers though. Imagine Bezos as the general secretary and president and the board as the supreme soviet. Workers who don't make quota can't quit because Amazon is the country. Workers would be compelled by Amazon police to work or go to a labour camp at gunpoint.

@SatchelChannel Indicative planning. Govt enticed the private companies, including the big 15 oligopolies to enact the govt policies, but did not mandate them and the companies could disagree openly and even deny enacting without govt interference.

Not against planning, but against central planning. Govt is supposed to be the mediator. Unions and companies as opposing parties. If the workers or the consumers have issues, or if the company doesn't want to or can't meet quota, the govt can't be bith the judge and the prosecutor.
