This was Lukashenko’s goal with the Union State. Now Putin played the uno reverse card on him. If you're interested in the situation in Belarus, there's a great analysis on the origins and likely outcomes of the "Belarus Revolution" I would check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKBYYD8nx4M&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=2&t=0s

That's true. Lukashenko relied on stirring up Soviet nostalgia and suppressing Belarussian identity This and more is covered in this analysis on the origins and likely outcomes of the "Belarus Revolution": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKBYYD8nx4M&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=2&t=0s

@IronMan-fi3xz She has always stated that she is a transition candidate to facilitate free and fair elections. Also, Lukashenko who implemented ZERO measures to combat the coronavirus can hardly be described as competent. No wonder Belarussians want him out.

I think opposition leader Tikhanovskaya can only win if she can assure Russia that she won't turn to the West. At least that's my takeaway from this analysis on the origins and likely outcomes of the "Belarus Revolution": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKBYYD8nx4M&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=2&t=0s
