  2. I talked to a bunch of lower level Anduril employees over the past few months and didn't get that feeling. Yes, the work is definitely hard, but it seems rewarding and everyone is happy to be there. Lots of people get burnt out working for high-growth tech startups, but many of them never have to work again once their equity vests. That tradeoff isn't for everyone, but some people live for it.

  8. this is a fair criticism. I'm hoping that as I build my brand, I'll eventually be able to pull in more voices. Most of their competitors wouldn't sit down for an interview if the framing is "video about history of Anduril" - I did try to include quotes from other sources and people who have been critical of Palmer / Anduril over the years. Going to try and focus on broader topics eventually where I can pull in people from a bunch of different sides to help tell a bigger story.

  12. yeah that's totally fair. I think the best case scenario is that Anduril makes the world safer AND helps reduce the military budget / break up the military industrial complex. That would be a huge win.

  14.  @Joe-fk6wz  yeah, anyone saying that machine learning is going to replace decision making on the battlefield is just hyping up nonsense, but ML is very useful for more mundane stuff, like automatically tagging millions of images from satellites and drones.   18. oh that's actually not the takeaway here at all. we definitely don't need to increase the military budget. The issue is that most of the budget is wasted on ineffective projects. The hope (and what Anduril is trying to do long term) is reduce the budget while maintaining effectiveness. This video definitely isn't advocating for increasing the military's budget, it's about doing things differently.

  19.  @jeez5735  that's a good point, I'm working on a new video about hypersonic weapons and I interviewed an independent journalist for that to add some extra color. The point you make about people within the military industrial complex wanting to increase budgets is definitely real. There's always a question as to how "real" the rivalry with other countries actually is. The message from "third parties that have actual background working in the military industrial complex" is even more aggressive though, they just want to throw tons of money at the problem, which I think is the wrong answer.

  33. yeah, it's really important for these companies to think about ethics from day one. there are a bunch of products that Anduril simply won't build precisely because they don't think they will be used ethically. not a perfect solution, but hopefully a step in the right direction.
