  1. we only heat the rooms we are using here too, which is mainly the big kitchen (that acts as a living room too) and our winter can get pretty nasty (-10 is not unheard of) but it is never a big deal, it never gets so bad like in Canada or russia. but we use fuel stoves and sometimes a wooden one. we insolate exposed water pipes outside of course (so they wont burst)
