Why wouldn't it be? Grab a small weight and move it out and in from your shoulder as fast as possible. Now double it and see how fast you can go... Also, the load on the conrod is far greater with a heavier piston, which is effectively what limits your rpm capacity. Double the weight takes 4x the force to accelerate at the same rate.

Decent vid, but 2 things. The advertisement for a video should not be 25% of the content. Also, please speak in proper technical terms. Four times less is properly expressed as a quarter. I don't know who started that silly language, but it's reverse logic, and doesn't sound smart.

@1234567890CAB SAAB did have a reputation of spending more than they were making. So that's unsurprising. Still 20 years on, the tech was never utilised.

I remember this, it never went into production however. Think they had too many issues making it reliable

@PeterChapman-rg6gr that's highly debatable.

@axe4770 so you're all for lowering intelligence rather than educating people are you? FYI this language was never used until a couple of years ago. So if it's never been necessary until then, why should it be now? It's stupid marketing language that should never be used, period. We're all stupider for it.

@rocketpigrecords3719 they were meant to be relying more heavily on GM designs than they were. Kept spending too much redeveloping designs they were handed, which is why GM inevitably pulled the plug. Had they been more modest with their spending habits, they may have still existed.

@PeterChapman-rg6gr the only issue with the Atkinson cycle is the engine never makes as much power. Really like the Nissan/Infinity solution the best so far. A bit bulkier, but also relatively simple
1
@PeterChapman-rg6gr well considering most ICE cars on the market don't use Atkinson cycle tech, I think you have your answer. I never said anything about racing, but it can be the difference between having enough power and not. Most Atkinson cycle engines these days are a part of hybrid systems.
1
@PeterChapman-rg6gr this is totally wrong. Atkinson engines require a different, longer duration camshaft profile to work. Variable cam timing allows more power at higher RPM by advancing the camshaft timing it does not allow the engine to run in the Atkinson cycle. Please do some research.

@vasilisgreen yes you're quite right. I had the wrong principle in my head.
1
@vasilisgreen yes this is where I think I got things confused between energy and force. Need to go do some reading again.
