Uk has been sleep walking from recessions to another since 2008

Exactly, raising retirement age will not solve anything lol, sometimes I do wonder whether these people in government under tories and labour think properly. Employers will not find people over 60 attractive in terms of employment (and I'm not referring to looks) because it will be extremely difficult for the elderly to keep up in a very very fast paced world like the UK where almost everything is going to be influenced and enhanced by A.I.

For me it's the rich here, it's like they don't want to invest in infrastructure (i'm referring to the British elites here)
12
I bet you the UK would still flop economically, whether the elites reduce social security spending or increase it. Today not one single job can maintain a single person, no matter which region of the UK they live in
11
It's not even a labour thing for me, under Tories it was already impossible to save and I'm 30 years old.
10
Tories (tick tock) or did you forget Brexit too and then the mini COVID recessions/inflations to go along with that
10
If blair didn't bend a knee to george w bush, we wouldn't even have tories lmao. Instead we have been sleep walking from disaster to another disaster to another disaster on a crazy loop

We need better quality permanent jobs, part time or full/self employed salaries/wages overall. Otherwise growth will just stagnate, yes that also means benefits have to increase too. Also, more investment in the public sector too and of course with the private sector doing their thing as well.

Reminds me of 2008

@kevinu.k.7042 people like you need to smell the coffee

I have always said private renters are the ones that are getting hammered economically here in the uk, at the same time landlords in the private rented sector got hammered by liz truss and tories medsling with the economy. Poor political choices on the economy and fiscal policies, plus not building no where near enough homes has basically killed aspirations to buy a home or an apartment in the UK.
4
Flooded and yet both Tory and labour refuse to allow them to work and contribute to the British economy. There that is your answer when it comes to asylum seekers. Otherwise think! Before asking daft questions
3
I can't see a lot of people buying homes in the UK even by 2030 or even after that (within 3 decades, AI will change the landscape)
3
@basicfilmblog exactly, I don't understand why people say basic needs, basic needs don't exist anymore (what I'm trying to say, no matter where you are on the income/social class bracket in the UK, no one lives on basic needs anymore)

Mild that will linger on. Just like 2008

A 5.5% increase, Tories are the worst political party ever!

It's been like this for years under tories, this news is not that surprising

Gordon Brown fell on his sword nicely day 😂😂😂
2
It's not "if" though, both Germany and France are in a mess

By 2030, the talent pool will decrease by 25 percent, I have learned from financial times, as the years go by the older population in the UK will increase. There will be less and less of the younger population (it will continue to shrink).

Tax the rich so the cost wouldn't be so bad even. Instead of more and more austerity 😑, which most people on the middle to low income bracket don't want to experience again
2
Brexit is like the 70s/80s (2016 to 2024 Brexit is like a mutated influenza)
2
@Lorraine-p4r yep, businesses on both sides of the pond are a disgrace
1
@terryj50 that's alie, a larger proportion of benefits is spent on pensioners (11.3% of DWP budget is spent on the older people)

It's gone to Sunak laughing all the way to the bank and california

Nothing in the UK is autocratic. You want that life go live in north korea

Guess the people influencing and advising Starmer and reeves. The people that are advising them are telling them to only have a short term mindset. That is why no matter what economic boom the UK will have, it will never last.
1
@markeh1971 the NHS should be preventing all this 🤨🤔, it's crazy how it has that many people waiting and a lot of people suffering and they're not meeting the demand and government don't seem to really care.
1
@marcus.H of course who wouldn't, the issues is that is going to become scarce in 3 decades

Spot on @frostbite9
