In the UK, you can still work as hard you want, but if your wages are not making ends meet then you get support on top of your wages or more support to find a better job at least. Also the retirement age is higher in the UK, because we have a aging population (so not enough young people I guess) which is a serious problem.

@101spacemonkey indeed it is. Because there are people out there that abuse it (that's the problem). The support needs to overhauled and designed in away that supports workers (no matter the situation) until they are able to get back on their feet and even if they no longer can (at least humanise the situation) most UK elites, businesses take the piss out of it and then lobby Tories to stop.investing system like that. I have seen it from Tories to lib Dems and labour. They can't seem to get the balance right at all, it's either austerity or deep massive cuts where no one wins but the rich. Now look at the UK, the only part of the population that is winning under brexit UK is the rich (again) and some very rich pensioners that voted for brexit.
