@xp7575 <Marxism is the abolition of government> Like what Somalia had after Barre was ousted for the next 2 and a half decades?
1
Indeed.
1
@doorhanger9317 As long as someone else is footing the bill, I presume.
1
Be it through malice or ignorance.
1
Considering that he's supposed to be a god.
1
<It's impossible to build socialism without democracy and basic human rights.> Because when socialism does have democracy and human rights, everything comes apart. Case(s) in point: the USSR and Yugoslavia. <The dictatorship of the proletariat, was in fact a dictatorship of the party's beaurocracy against the proletariat.> When they say power to the people, what they really mean is power to the state. Power OVER the people. Margaret Thatcher was right.
1
@terrancex339 <The US for example spend close to trillion of dollars annually on it's military alone but yet have baffling no healthcare system to speak of.> Which allows the likes of Sweden, the UAE, Canada, etc. to enjoy their social democratic welfare states taking their own defense for granted.
1
@DarkZerol <by Mao Zedong.> Who condemned 45 million of his own countrymen to starvation and death what he envisioned.
1
OUCH!
1
Yet depends on other countries for food, currency, etc.
1
Communists are some of the biggest capitalists around.
1
@gtPacheko Well, government bureaucrats are the people. Are they not? North Korea is socialist. Sorry, tankie!
1
Otto Warmbier.
1
Ethiopia had it with Mengistu.
1
@SmashingCapital And when it did become democratic, it was the final nail in the coffin. The results: collapse, civil war and its vassal states opting for independence.
1
Especially in places where Democrats are in charge.
1
@slavenskazajednica7912 And you must have been one of those regime bootlickers.
1
@deborahdean8867 No. The famine was a matter of government policy. Drought alone cannot cause famines.
1
There are no benefits.
1
Namely ex-members, descendants and beneficiaries of the old regime.
1
Moldova North Korea (insert Central Asian nation) (East) Germany
1
@Regonix "True" socialism/communism as the poster advocates was already tried in Somalia after it s one-time Soviet-backed dictator was ousted. It had no state (literally, no government), no money (formal economy) and no classes (just pirates, warlords, goat-herders and ordinary folks).
1
@Armament Armed Arm At least the US can produce its own food, because its agricultural model is actually efficient and adequate. Something North Korea just isn't and certainly hasn't been since Kim Il-Sung took charge.
1
@leezhieng No. More like the Ethiopian famine. Or the North Korean famine.
1
Russia also created Mongolia. And Mongolia had its own Lenin/Stalin with Choibalsan.
1
Because communists are generally amateurs when it comes to running nations.
1
@jimgravesus Exactly.
1
@view1st <Cubans too.> Thanks to US food aid.
1
@xp7575 Every communist's favorite excuse.
1
@xp7575 Yes it is. That's what they always say when it fails to produce the utopia it promised.
1
Exactly. And can be as inefficient, incompetent, wasteful and costly as it desires.
1
@socalpumpballer Pretty much. Plus, Marx had nothing in common with the working class he had so much solidarity with. He was an upper-class deadbeat grifter.
1
Exactly.
1
@AdamSmith-gs2dv And today, Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in Asia. Poorer than the Philippines that some of the left cite as proof of capitalist failure.
1
@jimgravesus And that's considering Marx was part of the very same bourgeoisie he wanted destroyed.
1
There was another system that had exactly that. It was called slavery.
1
<3rd world countries > Most 3rd world countries were actually communist but refused to be Soviet puppets.
1
North Korea earned its demonization. <they refuse to submit to their western domination. > Yet happily submit to Russian and Chinese domination. <The fact that they survived and became a feared power in the region after all these years of sanctions and bullying should tell a story not the words of western media.> Thanks to human and drug trafficking, currency-counterfeiting and Chinese aid.
1
Pretty much. Because communism/socialism is a consumer, not a producer and can only sustain itself by brute force and taxing "the rich."
1
Like the kulaks in Lenin's Russia/USSR.
1
When they say that communism is a system for workers, what they really mean is it's a system for government bureaucrats.
1
@bushwalker6214 The average Liberal/Democrat/leftist.
1
After adopting capitalism and being host to US manufacturing jobs.
1
Exactly.
1
@EricChien95 Bad analogy. North Korea regressed with Kim Il-Sung's policies having to resort to Soviet, Chinese and international aid to compensate for the inefficiencies and inadequacies of the model the country operated under.
1
<Socialism is when the people control production and the distribution of wealth> And mismanage them into ruin due to their own greed and incompetence.
1
<But with money, 90-99% of the population is miserable because they have to work a job they hate just to keep a roof over their head> And keep society going. If everyone just did the jobs they love, who's going to be around to build and maintain infrastructure? Robots can't do everything. <A system with no money would have no problems functioning as the people within that system would be far more content then those in a system with money.> It would have plenty of problems functioning as such a system would stagnate and eventually die as it's not sustainable. <If they don't, they'll die.> Just like animals do. They're not above having to work to eat.
1
@aliensoup2420 Including Atheism a.k.a. Paganism 2.0.
1
Socialism is about control under the guise of upliftment.
1
Fascism is a product of socialism.
