Yet very few of them for political reasons.

@b.b. <while capitalism does not provide anything for free, does not even pay fairly the workers.> And rightfully so. You want something? Get up off your butt and work. They're free to work for someone else or start their own business.
1
If you enjoy having a perpetually stunted economy.
1
@blacklotus5953 Not really as ideology and state became one.
1
@AUniqueHandleName444 LOL. Putin was part of the Soviet class.
1
LOL. No. They were too busy marveling at the standard of the North where their brothas and sistas migrated to en masse.
1
@nikolaynovichkov166 Was that due to price-fixing and wage-suppression?
1
<Soviet/Russian leaders have NEVER cared for the people they were meant to serve and just take from and hurt them.> No government has ever really cared for the people they were supposedly meant to serve. And the ones that have ended up getting ousted by the very same people once the economy declined, they overstayed their welcome and/or pissed off some \body within their ranks.
1
@ChristopherSobieniak But eventually ran out of other people's money.
1
LOL. Cope! <If you can't get ever money to buy something, you're banned by capitalism from owning that something.> Well, you're not entitled to it. Either produce it or buy it via work.
1
Communist state = dictatorship
1
You must be part of the Bulgarian ruling elite.
1
Tyranny to compensate for the economic limitations exposed by the US's military budget.
1
Better than pro-Communist trash.
1
While the USSR was the leader of the 2nd world.
1
Not really. Some are homeless due to their own misdeeds.
1
@mikeyorkav4039 Socialists are even bigger parasites.
1
Or your local zoning laws.
1
Australian Jackaroo Sounds kind of like Venezuela. Chavez was in charge when oil prices were high and Maduro was in charge when oil prices collapsed.
1
Thanks to money stolen from Croatia and Slovenia.
1
@halguy5745 Yet you have no problem with organized atheism?
1
What about Ontario and Quebec farmers?
1
@blitzerblazinoah6838 And Central Asia.
1
@brandonk.4864 Not really as with most communist regimes, there wasn't even enough bread to give out due to the methods and means used to produce said bread (and food in general) being inefficient and ineffective.
1
Namely those who were addicted to government handouts.
1
@cowsmuggler1646 It's a surprise that the USSR didn't suffer a potato famine like Ireland.
1
@michaelsalmon9832 A Black Panther terrorist?
1
Very much.
1
<Same in Romania, Ceausescu built 4 floor apartments that were given almost for free to young families> But no basic utilities, heating or consistent electricity.
1
Stalin killed more Ukrainians than Hitler killed Jews.
1
Just see Enver Hoxha.
1
Nope.
1
Well, it is said that for socialism/communism to work, it has to be WORLDWIDE.
1
See Romania 's final years under Ceausescu.
1
@raidang Due to lack of ice-free ports.
1
Until recently, Russia had the 3rd highest suicide rate in the world. It also has rather low life expectancy for men at barely 64 years.
1
Sounds like Cuba.
1
Most gays/lesbians were White and considered average American despite having to keep their orientation secret.
1
Sure, tankie!
1
Because Russia moved a portion of its population there to dilute the local demographics and forcibly annex them if necessary.
1
Exactly.
1
Ditto for Cuba.
1
@badluck5647 Agreed.
1
<sanctions in the first place!> LOL. Communist countries struggled due to being inefficient and inadequate requiring outside aid, not sanctions.
1
@sciencemanguy Living off of Syria's largesse.
1
@mikeyorkav4039 Only because the people who run those nations are family and friends of the old communist guard just like Russia after the Soviet collapse.
1
You can be independent if you're willing to put up with being isolated, backward and inconsequential.
1
Very much.
1
Until they weren't once commodity prices hit rock-bottom and the USSR ran into shortages.
1
@mr.congeniality8803 <infinitely better agricultural situations that, in a lot of cases, made the country entirely self-sufficient> LOL. So infinitely better that it led to production declines, shortages and eventual famine having to import food to compensate. <But you can't put the blame of left-wing ideologies failures solely on themselves> Yes you can for Tanzania, Ethiopia, North Korea and most of Eastern Europe.
