And at who's expense will council housing be built? No profit = no revenue for basic maintenance. And then you wonder why they end up privatized.

Who needs the father when big daddy government is around?
3
You, the government, is the reason why Air BnB is a thing. Restricting landlords' ability to evict bad tenants in a timely manner among other things to make long-term renting no longer worth the trouble.

<The one woman has no job (she says she's self employed)> LOL. Probably an Instagram model.
3
@meg-iv1sw Exactly.
2
@ryansweeney1661 Most of the people at the bottom are every bit as selfish and evil. Better to be lonely at the top than miserable at the bottom.
2
@preciousjemstone2816 Especially if they insist on living in the big city.
2
They have been replaced by big daddy government.
2
No it isn't.
1
@nimanixo How many customers do you see in a week?
1
@jamesli1256 No. In most countries, they'd be living in a makeshift shack on the outskirts of the capital.
1
@rosiekapun207 < Also super unethical. > Not at all. It's called recouping costs. Landlords are not charities nor are they renting anything at a loss.
1
Never have, never will.
1
<this crisis started when Thatcher was in government and it’s just worsened over the years. > To clean up the mess the Labour government left behind resulting in the UK being a dump.
1
Reinstate welfare term limits.
1
No. Just a Western problem.
1
The government is part of the housing crisis.
1
@Someoneanon718 <Welfare is guaranteed> As long as the government doesn't find out about your other sources of income.
1
@streetfashiontv9149 But the UK has the US beat in homelessness per capita.
1
Why?
1
@jannetteberends8730 Actually, no. Housing is not a human right just like it's not a human right to force others against their will to provide it.
1
@kb4903 She must be an Instagram model.
1
Better than socialism and its close cousin, ENVY and entitlement which is its own form of greed.
1
Namely in cities run by Democrats.
1
First cap all taxes and stop greedy government.
1
@doomergirl3981 It doesn't.
1
For cleaning up the mess the previous Labour government put the UK in including bankruptcy.
1
If so, then why can't you buy your own house with said paycheck instead of looking to the landlord to provide it for you?
1
Maybe tenants on Universal Credit = irresponsible and too much of a liability?
1
She's an Instagram model.
1
@wft15 And government restrictions on building.
1
Not really. They don't owe anyone a thing. Plus, a lot of poor people are lousy with personal finances which part of why they're poor in the first place.
1
Government over-regulation made affordable housing costly and borderline illegal.
1
Milton Friedman was anything but irresponsible. Chile benefited from his ideas and is one of the wealthiest countries in the Americas. <build massive public housing.> The UK Does not need ghettoes or the government being the ultimate slumlord.
1
The UK has more homelessness per capita than the US.
1
@rosiekapun207 Housing is not right as not even council owes anyone housing.
1
<The whole world is in a housing crisis. > No. Africa doesn't have this. Latin America doesn't have this. Asia doesn't have this.
1
@Uglyalrhaydur Fascists are socialist as well.
1
At least California has better weather.
1
@starbwoy133 How can they be with high building costs and real estate prices?
1
But the housing market is over-regulated, hence the shortages and higher prices for whatever didn't get taxed or regulated to death.
1
<the decline in the traditional family structure (for whatever reason) > Feminism and welfare.
1
@gregkareem9824 In other words, more slums.
1
After all, the big city isn't for everyone.
1
And who's rights are to be violated for that to happen?
1
@KallusGarnet Or Hong Kong.
1
@emlmm88 Keep their legs closed, make better choices in the men they date and sleep with, etc.
1
Maybe because people on UC = irresponsible and unreliable?
1
<affordable price> Translation: at someone else's expense meaning landlords have to eat the losses and renters who can afford market rate have to pay higher prices to subsidize it.
1
<a country this small should only have 10 million peopl> But back in the colonial days, that same 10 million was considered overpopulated
