The story of Latin America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.
1
But 89% of the land is Crown-owned and off-limits to development.
1
So much land yet most it's uninhabitable. It's not the realtors' fault most of the people only want to live in the cities inevitably resulting in some getting priced out.
1
@Avaricumstudios Iran is a theocracy.
1
Pretty much.
1
America's crisis pales in comparison to Australia's and Hong Kong's.
1
LOL. Spain hasn't had anything to do with Venezuela in the past 211 years.
1
Or what Pol Pot did to the average Cambodian?
1
And the people who voted for them.
1
And to Cuba to keep the population in line.
1
LOL. No. Chavez coasted off of high oil prices while destroying the local economy and letting the oil infrastructure collapse due to mismanagement and corruption after firing all the skilled employees in favor of political friends and supporters. He was just fortunate enough to die before SHTF on the oil prices with Maduro left holding the bag.
1
They failed to do so, because they were too busy undermining and sabotaging it with price controls, high taxes and minimum wage and punitive regulations.
1
America: only in the Northeast and West Coast.
1
Rental properties make perfect sense for cities due to their transient nature with people tending to move a lot.
1
How can you love your neighbor when you obsess over what he has?
1
@dsbougie Well, democratic socialism bankrupted Greece and Jamaica.
1
Venezuela collapsed 3 years before Trump took office.
1
@myspace_forever If you enjoy living in state-imposed squalor like a Cuban.
1
@i_like_beer-o2f Not really. the poster would much rather people consider actually living where they can afford and stop thinking they're entitled to live wherever they want, personal finances be damned!
1
<In Venezuela that doesn’t happens. There, everyone has a place to live and everyone has something to eat.> LOL. They don't have much to eat, hence why they're eating rotten meat and zoo animals. And the place they have to live lacks basic utilities like electricity for their AC's as some die of heatstroke.
1
Only to loot the country themselves. How else do you explain Chavez dying a billionaire and his daughter being the richest person in the country?
1
And in the weakness of socialism, that housing becomes a dump no longer suitable for inhabitation due to mismanagement and lack of investment in maintenance. <a basic human right.> Because it never was whether back then or now despite what some activist pseudo-humanitarian claims.
1
Like Chile and Costa Rica?
1
Or give them free helicopter rides.
1
They used to have one until the people gave it up in exchange for free stuff from Chavez.
1
<This is not a result of Chavez economics> Yes it is. And Chavez was just fortunate enough to die before he could see them blow up in his face.
1
It's Maduro using the poor as a bargaining chip.
1
@gardencity3558 Yet Cuba = Haiti without the instability.
1
The high oil prices at the time allowed Chavez to put up a front for Venezuela prospering.
1
Socialism earned its bad rep.
1
Vancouver has rent control. Yet British Columbia, where Vancouver is located in, has the highest average rent and eviction rates in Canada.
1
Like he fixed the Uyghurs and Hong Kongers?
1
And end up poor in the long run.
1
LMAO. True.
1
That would be the Venezuelan government as the people are barely even allowed to make an honest living in their own country.
1
Exactly.
1
Which can be traced right back to the government.
1
And turn them into the US housing projects.
1
That's Canada.
1
Pretty much.
1
What Trump voters? Most of the Americans suffering from the housing crisis all live in the cities where leftist, progressive, uber-Marxist Trump-haters are in charge.
1
If you care about your future, you'd invest.
1
Exactly.
1
@HC-wo2tz <It is a quote that demonstrated his ignorance of socialism in the Eastern Bloc.> Not really as most of the Eastern Bloc were Soviet client states and collapsed when the Soviets stopped supporting them. Albania and Yugoslavia pretty much died with Hoxha and Broz. <the poverty of India> Was largely due to socialism it adopted after independence that stifled it for decades until the economy was liberalized in 1993.
1
@sonnytanod8862 But it still reigns true.
1
@justanothergoy5900 Thanks to the oil price collapse and Venezuela no longer having a thriving private sector to soften its fall to rock-bottom because Chavez decimated it.
1
What Republicans? When Venezuela's economy collapsed in 2014, the Democrats were in charge.
1
LOL. Tankie, please!
1
That's what rural areas and suburbs are for.
1
Pretty much.
