  35. Only one problem, though. The US has a robust private sector and the mathematicians are working on Wall Street, because they chose to. Whereas Cuba's private sector is next to non-existent and the educated people have to take up a side-gig just to feed themselves and their families, because their primary jobs (namely whatever the government assigned them) pay too little to live on. In other words, they don't have a choice.
