  1. Um. No. Sanctions had little to do with why Soviet Russia collapsed and plenty to do with the system no longer being sustainable. There's a reason why they had to let their client states go. Plus, their failed invasion of Afghanistan and that Chernobyl disaster exposing them to the outside world didn't help matters much.
