@rogerzimet Puerto Rico says HI!
53
Nah. Cuba never recovered from the loss of Soviet and Venezuelan aid that kept the economy afloat.
37
Andrea Puri Women actually have rights in China.
23
@davet9708 While becoming a basket-case in the process through mismanagement and oppressing its own people. LOL
22
Not really. Much of Venezuela's suffering was of its own making.
18
Revolution as in end up like every other socialist regime. Cuba, Russia, Cambodia, China, Nicaragua, etc. Take your pick.
16
@mikenogozones And as a matter of fact, Chavez was busy destroying whatever diversified economy Venezuela had.
15
So did China, Romania, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and North Korea.
15
@anonymousfella372 No. Blame the government for promoting the country as a tourist spot just so it can attract "foreign investment."
13
Because the oil price collapsed and Maduro was no longer able to keep up the facade.
13
Actually, if it wasn't for a man knocking that woman up, his butt wouldn't be here.
11
Cuba is a grifter that doesn't pay for services rendered.
11
Spain was the OG colonizer.
11
@myztroogeegibson3568 The sanctions came 3 years after Venezuela collapsed. It's not the US's problem that Venezuela decimated whatever local economy it had with price controls, high taxes and nationalizations en route to being oil-dependent. And then when the prices hit rock-bottom, it had nothing to fall back on.
10
@freepalestine7687 I'd call it mismanagement.
10
@davidanalyst671 But that doesn't mean the area is suitable for farming.
10
Of course not. It's staying in France where the trial is taking place.
10
Literally on the backs of women.
9
Andrea Puri You're the one that's deluding yourself. Women got it way better in China in spite of living under a communist regime which is light years ahead of any Islamic theocracy when it comes to tyranny and oppression.
9
The consequences of bureaucracy and rent control bearing fruit.
9
Cuba has been de-industrializing since the Revolution.
9
@AztecSamurai01 Exactly.
8
Not just that. They don't have the ability or desire to build anything.
8
But even their neighbor countries don't want them.
8
Maybe when women stop being all too eager to supply it.
8
When European politicians grow a spine.
8
@adrianostarks-chaves9256 Exactly.
7
And Zimbabwe. And Cambodia, And North Korea.
7
@MissShaypril <It’s called capitalism aka greed.> Better than socialism a.k.a. envy, covetousness and entitlement.
6
@desmondburnett9286 No. Reinstate the private sector and watch Venezuela grow.. <remove the embargo and watch Venezuela grow.> Like it did in 2014-16?
6
As long as the people keep voting for leftists.
6
@alexdavis1541 Because even socialism/communism has rich and poor.
6
@TuAmigoElMorrocoy That's because Venezuelans happily voted away their gun rights to Chavez.
5
In other words, racism.
5
It figures.
5
The former. And Cuba was one of the wealthiest countries in the Americas under Batista.
5
Yet with no work for anyone except those with ties to the state.
5
@aseriesoftriangleswecalltr6065 He's just the typical Western leftist.
5
Gratitude from getting them out of Apartheid.
4
Is that an admission that African's cannot rule themselves?
4
<but it's Spanish landlords that are doing this for a profit.> And rightfully so. They're about business.
4
@freedomofpress5605 It is pathetic as Venezuela collapsed well before any sanction was imposed.
4
They voted for it.
4
@usdepartmentofthetreasury489 Cuba is kept alive with US remittances and food aid.
4
Case in point: Cuban, Dominican and Thai women.
4
@uneVacheQuiRit <shut up! They are not a communist country.... it's a military dictatorship with capitalist values (masses are exploited for the enrichment of the elites)> Yes they are. Like every other socialist/communist regime. <also cuba has implemented communist theories and they have one of the best healthcare system and the highest literacy rate in the world.> That's not saying much as Cuba has no job market and many have to work a 2nd job as taxi-drivers, prostitutes, etc. to help supplement their meager state wages. And also, Cuba is dependent on tourism, outsourcing doctors to other countries in which the government gets 90% of their earnings and remittances from Cubans living abroad to keep the economy afloat.
4
@fillthefeeder Like Trinidad & Tobago of all places.
4
Just look at the Black community.
4
The Uyghurs, Hong Kongers and Tibetans would like a word with you on that.
4
Says a poster with the flag of a country that colonized Central Asia, the Balkans and Eastern Europe.
