Exactly.

They don't. It's Maduro holding the country back.
1
Exactly.
1
That's if you're allowed to live there at all.
1
It's yet another case of revolutions eating their own as Robespierre correctly predicted.
1
Canada is a White country. And Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver are not accurate representations.
1
Exactly. While undermining the country's ability to feed and support itself.
1
@georgfriedrichhandel4390 Exactly. The only difference is that Mugabe didn't spend a dime on social programs, opting to run White farmers off the land in favor of political friends and those who were in no position to farm.
1
@freudianslippers6567 It is fair. Ethiopia was never colonized nor was it under any US/Western sanctions when it ran its communist experiment and became the posterboy for everything wrong with Africa in the 1980's. Yugoslavia, Romania and Albania had US/West support. Ditto for Guyana and Cambodia. India was left alone. And yet all those countries struggled under communism/socialism anyway.
1
@Unruly6ixx And PR is poorer than the poorest mainland state which is Mississippi.
1
But Italy is barely even capitalist to begin with being the place of fascism, another brand of socialism.
1
But they won't, because they love those French handouts.
1
<just because they have theirs own ideas of politics.> That happens to have a 104-plus year record of failure. And it failed even in countries that weren't under Western sanctions.
1
<have forgotten there old ways of living> That is not sustainable.
1
Socialism doesn't believe in self-reliance. Especially the people in relation to the government.
1
@mikelamatria3610 All of which coming undone by mass 3rd-world immigration, because who knew that socialism and open borders don't mix?
1
At least those countries are not poor and have better leadership.
1
So what's the Gulf Arab states's excuse? Their economies are propped up by the very same oil.
1
Not really. Maybe they killed him, because all the "free" stuff he provided them wasn't worth the repression and abuse they had to endure during his 42 years of rule.
1
@sparklesupreme8170 Not really. Democrats went from enslaving Blacks with whips and chains to enslaving them with welfare and virtue-signalling.
1
@JebusHypocristosX Sanctions do not prevent anything. The Cuban government's overtaxing and regulating is why it has no real industry. Who wants to produce when 80% of your work will get seized by the state?
1
Because they're of little consequence as Maduro did a much better job of starving the country by himself. Why do people like to act as if Venezuela was helpless and couldn't do anything on its own?
1
@beverlyledbetter9302 <And then you see how people waste food in these movies and tv shows. It's criminal!> Hardly. <Those people would kill for that stuff!> Namely in countries where it's their own government starving them to death and outside help is banned by same said government as in the case of Venezuela.
1
Not completely as Britain granted them independence anyway, because it was no longer in any financial position tom support them.
1
@machsimillian14 Typical socialist response. I bet you weren't saying that back in 2012 when Chavez was alive and Venezuela prospered from the high oil prices.
1
@machsimillian14 <Poverty had been reduced by extreme metrics.> Only by Chavez throwing money at the problem while decimating whatever diversified economy it had upon making Venezuela oil-dependent. <You cannot have socialist dictators, that takes the power from the people to be able to decide how the government/economy functions. > LOL <That coupled with sanctions by the US, > They weren't imposed until 3 years after the collapse. And also if anything, Venezuela didn't do itself any favors bad-mouthing the very same US that bought its oil and becoming reliant on imports as it no longer had the capacity to produce anything locally.
1
They voluntarily voted away their self-determination for social programs.
1
Case in point: the Soviet Union and Chernobyl.
1
But Mobutu ran his country like a communist regime he denounced as he got his governing ideas from Mao.
1
The women got to go too. The come for birth citizenship.
1
Ditch the central planning.
1
<So other countries are not free to conduct trade and operations with Venezuela > Russia, Iran, China and Cuba don't seem to have any problem doing business with Venezuela.
1
But pales in comparison to socialism. No one's risking their lives to flee to Cuba, North Korea or Venezuela.
1
No. These are the results of socialism Venezuelan style.
1
Apparently no, because the people traded self-sufficiency for government handouts.
1
Welfare states and open borders do not mix.
1
French Guiana was never independent, but a one-time French penal colony. Basically it was to France what Australia was to Britain. Guyana didn't have to fight for independence as Britain was granting them such anyway being in the business of decolonization.
1
@Hugo-gc8jm Entirely thanks to mainland French taxpayers.
1
Which Peruvian people? Hardly anyone in the cities and coasts voted for him.
1
No, because sanctions had little impact on the economy compared to the near-total state control of the economy that seized and/or shut down a lot of the private enterprise it once had.
1
@Jayjayb1 Who exactly are you to decide how much food one needs? Better to have and not need like America than to need and not have like Cuba.
1
Because the people don't pay their salaries. The Maduro government does.
1
@manorui100 Very much.
1
Like New Caledonia.
1
@its_me_tangi5320 But he's still right. This is what even Arabs thought of Blacks at the time of the Arab Slave Trade.
1
Voted for by losers.
1
Define ethical.
1
When Haiti invaded the DR as part if its debt repayment to France.
1
And the socialism that a lot of them adopted as the model to prosperity after independence?
1
Madagascar had socialism. And let's just say the results were not much to write home about.
