@Onequietvoice Canada has just entered the chat.

Cuba has a military which is just used to keep the citizens in line.
8
@petemacneil8343 Yet every other country that chose Moscow ended up among the worst-off in their respective regions. Ethiopia, Somalia, Nicaragua, Cuba, Moldova, Albania, etc.
7
@georgefox4982 No. The Cuban government broke the people. The sanctions were nothing compared to the loss of Soviet and Venezuela aid that did far more damage to the borderline non-existent economy thanks to Castro's decimation of local industry.
7
@Skygrey2943 Well isn't Cuba self-sufficient? If so, then it doesn't have any right to complain about being locked of the international banking system. This is the financial independence it asked for.
5
@mike_w-tw6jd Haiti is unstable. Cuba is just plain repressive.
5
@les4lb No. Because Cuba hardly produces anything worth trading and doesn't pay its tab so even its own allies don't do much business with them.
5
@freddydeleon28 Another country known for not paying its bills.
4
LOL. South Africa is all but completely in the same boat with its load-shedding.
4
@Jimmy-ye3wg While outsourcing, privatization and austerity are results of mismanagement. inefficiency and bloat.
3
New York, especially Manhattan, doesn't have anywhere else to build.
3
Not really due to Cuban import bans and high tariffs.
3
Maybe because it wasn't as crushing as the loss of foreign aid or business with others countries that could no longer afford to let it keep running up tabs without ability or means to pay?
2
@vivalaleta And you must have been one of those public-sector union workers she fired.
2
@AndreDuncan-e6b Like it did for Sri Lanka?
2
No need for that as the Cuban government has done a much better job of imposing restrictions on Cuba making it impoverished, isolated and backward under the guise of self-sufficiency.
2
Badly.
2
Not really as Cuba is known for being a grifter and having bad credit which is why even its own allies barely do any business with it anymore.
2
From one of the wealthiest and most developed countries in the Americas under Batista to a decaying wasteland under Castro and the ruling PCC. Viva la Revolucion, indeed!
2
But they have no money and those countries are not giving anything for free.
2
The same healthcare where they have to bring their own supplies bough from the black market because the hospitals and clinics don't have any?
2
@jamesdarby3991 Doesn't change the fact that food and housing are not rights.
2
@rebelfighter5249 And half of them can barely even run their own countries properly.
2
@bigtony4829 At someone else's expense.
2
@carlosgauerke2466 Don't forget Ethiopia.
2
After the Spanish-American War, Cuba was part of the US until it decided to let it go along with the Philippines.
2
@laurencooper3169 They can live on the outskirts. Living in London is a privilege, not a right.
2
@JosephNZUK Which keeps Bolivia landlocked.
1
Cuba is the WEF mandate in real-life practice. You will own nothing and be happy.
1
@boota1979 But Thatcher was the result of decades of Labour turning the UK into a literal dump.
1
@isabelstokes4042 It wasn't her fault that Labour would have mismanaged that fresh air necessitating privatization.
1
@danielcoleman4807 They already do and then some unlike the bottom 50% who account for a measly 3% of all taxes paid.
1
@Skygrey2943 <The revolutionaries wanted to nationalise the few natural resources the island had for its own people.> Only to run them into the ground eventually having to rely on foreign aid just to feed themselves. The revolutionaries became the corporations and gangsters they sought to eliminate unto themselves.
1
In socialism, the only people it cares about the safety and well-being of are the self-appointed chosen ones.
1
Many of the 3rd-world nations adopted socialism/communism after independence.
1
Cuba is yet another country that became worse off after doing business with Russia.
1
Neither do the Labours.
1
Which is ironic as socialism was founded and supported by the privileged of society.
1
@icu17siberia They need to learn to produce something worth trading and pay their bills.
1
<Central government control cannot deliver the goods and services to their populations > Especially in an adequate, efficient or sustainable manner.
1
Unless you're part of the ruling class.
1
Chavez and Maduro wrecked Venezuela on their own.
1
@boota1979 Mao's 50-cent army.
1
There never was a time when the police were for the people. They work for the government.
1
The only embargo in effect is that by the Cuban government against its own citizens.
1
Cuba has no money for that.
1
While Cuba hasn't fully recovered from the loss of Soviet aid that kept its borderline non-existent economy (thanks to Castro) afloat in 1991.
1
Just visit any inner-city ghetto.
1
@bigtony4829 Because the pensioner is no longer physically able to work due to age while the unemployed doesn't have the adaptable skills to work.
1
Because China expects to get paid (in cash) for its services.
