  9.  @VinyZikss  Natural resources don't mean anything if you don't have the human capital (brains, acumen, work ethic, etc.) to make good use of them. Part of Brazil's problem is its over-reliance on government for prosperity.

  14. And economic freedom, or the lack thereof in the latter since private enterprise is heavily restricted and the only well-paying jobs are state jobs. And it doesn't help that the vast majority of the latter's population are illiterate and unskilled.
