@sg23148 North Korea was propped up by Russia/USSR and China. It's not South Korea's fault that they put that Western aid to good use while North Korea pissed away all the Soviet/Chinese aid and has gone nowhere but downhill since the Korean War. And by the way, North Korea was wealthier than South Korea when the War ended.

@Maelstromme But that invasion didn't last very long. Plus, that was nothing compared to the Soviet-backed Derg that ousted Haile Selassie replacing him with Mengistu Haile Mariam which really set the country back.
