@johndavidmanuel2189 Nope.

Thanks to its EU membership. Otherwise, Spain would have been in the same position as its Latin American offspring.

@asscheeks3212 He also also forgot that Soviet Russia was every bit as imperialist as America is. Just ask anyone from Eastern Europe or Afghanistan.
2
Colonialism pales in comparison to the socialism that many African countries adopted after independence.
1
@shoebillsankuru A la Ethiopia circa Mengistu.
1
@pirozigzigwam8594 Actually, India's IQ is 82.
1
Ian Smith was right for not caving in to British pressure to decolonize.
1
@johnallen7807 And also Iceland.
1
@123456789bode Plus, Greece with help from Goldman Sachs lied about their finances to get in the Eurozone.
1
No it isn't.
1
Without the EU, individual countries just simply don't stand a chance against America or China politically and economically.
1
@alexanderfeustel3500 Namely China.
1
The Bahamas, Botswana and Barbados. But general, you're right.

That requires accountability and a strong legal system administered by people with integrity. The problem with the DRC is that it has neither as it has corrupt leadership and an equally corrupt populace.

They would need a capitalist-minded leader for that. Not another Marxist or Mobutu who was a Mao-fanboy while claiming anti-communist.
1
Jonathan Williams Exactly. It's not the West's fault that many African countries after independence chose socialism not just to flip them the bird.
1
LOL. Hardly. African workers are barred from the infrastructure projects China does in favor of Chinese workers and architects.
1
@kasperknutsen8283 Like Sri Lanka. China is colonizing countries via buyouts.
1
@hung-upear2659 Or Japan after two of its cities got nuked.
1
@Jo-vn7tg The leadership is a mere reflection of the populace that elected them.
1
@AlbertRossvids Or because the nation has a weak private sector and virtually all the well-paying jobs are state ones.
1
@fuckfannyfiddlefart Socialism doesn't work. And its own neighbors can attest to that. Why don't you do better?
1
Eh. Don't forget the Marxism that it adopted post-independence as a F U to the West and the capitalist economic model that gave it whatever prosperity it had prior.
1
But presently, a lot of educated Africans much rather risk their lives to live in the West than build up their own countries.
1
@ganonzero1 But the problem is that the educated that do stay home don't want to build.
1
LMAO. True.
1
@flakgun153 And also the general lack of infrastructure and a centralized economy.
1
@johndavidmanuel2189 Africa already did socialism.
1
@watchout3811 In their case, on a land where everything grew and food was plentiful, the had no incentive to do much beyond basic survival. If anything, complacency did them in. They evolved in a climate that didn't demand much from them in terms of long-term planning.
1
Enabled and facilitated by the Democrat Party. See any Black-majority US city such as Detroit, Baltimore, Memphis, New Orleans, etc.
1
Not they're not. Not having machinery is probably part of the reason for their low life-expectancy.
1
What free market? Much of Africa have a centralized state-run economy.
