@sexygeek8996 At least NYC has finance among other thriving industries to justify its high rents.

@bramptonjeff81 Socialism doesn't work. And many of the countries that adopted it only started running into problems as soon as they "ran out of other people's money" to supplement local industry their own policies decimated. The sanctions are of little consequence.
2
@bramptonjeff81 Mongolia, Tanzania, Yugoslavia, Somalia, India, etc.
2
When Zellers was around, it was the closest store to my house which was just up the street. The nearest Walmart was several Metro stops away.
2
@VandaPietrantonio Or OD'd.
2
Of the 10 most expensive places to live in Canada, all 10 of them are located in the GTA and Lower Mainland.
2
@asad5067 And now the UK is paying dearly for it.
2
@demisavage77 But so far it hasn't. BC has rent control yet its housing crisis is even worse than Ontario's.
2
No. The only thing wrong here is people expecting doctors to provide top-tier care for peanuts.
2
@eletakelley7188 LOL.
2
@eletakelley7188 That only applies to housing built from 2018 to present. <What Harris did to health care, seniors housing and hydro,> You must have forgotten ho Rae left Ontario bankrupt by the time he was finally voted out. Plus, that was Ontario's first formal experience with rent control. Near 0% vacancy rates, no new housing built, people unable to find housing, etc.
2
@julesk1567 There's plenty of incentive. To cover that windfall tax for starters.
2
LOL. Like Afghanistan, North Korea and Mongolia?
2
Where hardly anyone rents and there are no (white-collar) jobs.
2
@portpass1974 <That's not caused by "red tape," it's caused by labour shortages in those specific areas.> Due to the government indirectly discouraging people from taking up skilled trades. <There's more building and construction than ever before in the GTA, at breakneck speed.> Mostly condos.
2
Thanks to bureaucracy and high costs, those are among the only entities that can afford to build and own property.
2
At least for an hour.
2
@simpletown323 Especially when some of the less fortunate brought it upon themselves.
2
@natasha5822 Pretty much.
2
<on CPP.> Here's one of your problems. And why anyone young and working need to save and invest for their own retirement.
2
<Only provincial and municipalities can override these self interests> But NIMBY's are far from a small minority and it's their tax money that's keeping both the provincial and municipal governments afloat.
2
@potatopotato8360 Socialism is even more dependent on infinite resources and cash flow than capitalism is on infinite growth.
2
With what money and whose labor?
2
@curtisw0234 The government made it unviable through bureaucracy.
2
@bogeybichon7000 Pretty much.
2
You're free to find housing that was built before 2018 as there are plenty to go around.
2
@juki3451 Those who make minimum wage are the exception, not the norm. Plus, the units costing $2600/month wasn't meant for that crowd anyway.
2
Because they have a fixed address albeit not their own.
2
Harper was right in denying clemency to Canadians who get into trouble abroad due to their own stupidity and ignorance.
2
It figures. She works in an industry not subject to lockdowns or economic downturns. Don't you just love the pubic/government sector?
2
Didn't they already do that in 2020?
2
@continentalmasters5432 But to most, it's either the big city or bust.
2
Because it's illegal to discipline a kid.
2
Due to government meddling that made rentals too costly to build and maintain.
2
Drugs claimed one of my female friends just last month. RIP, Michelle.
2
And what is affordable housing is either taxpayper-subisidized or ghetto.
2
@bbfloors1903 With only big business being around.
2
This is on the province since they're in charge of healthcare.
2
<If there's not enough places for native Canadians why is the Gov letting in immigrants?> To consolidate more power for the Liberal Party and the federal government in general displacing native Canadians in the process. Gerrymandering, left-wing style.
2
Isn't Saudi Arabia also a member?
2
@aman888 Pretty much.
2
People who can actually budget? Yeah I know! Living within your means is a foreign concept in Canada.
2
@danc1513 And end up in crippling debt anyway when compounded with household debt.
2
<We are all victims of their lack of responsibility.> No. We're all complicit if we voted for them.
2
Unless your job allows you to work from home.
2
@diannefitzmaurice9813 Price controls = shortages and higher costs for whatever's left.
2
LOL. Taxing the rich only hurts the poor in the end.
2
Because he fears for his job.
2
Canada in general is not a place you'd want to be homeless in.
2
Feminism and Marxism.
