  4. @Zarcondeegrissom  Putin does not want the USSR back. The reality is that this war is over, Russia has all the land it wants. Ukraine has to give up for this war to end, and as long as the USA helps Ukraine they won't quit. By dumping it on the EU Ukraine will be forced to face reality. Russia has no interest in ruling over non-Russians, so there won't be a revival of the USSR.

  6.  @timothylee2772  Yes, but not Putin. It's not practical. Multi-ethnic empires are a disaster, and are always destined to collapse unless rules are forcefully enforced. It's not worth it. Eastern Ukraine are all ethnic Russian, they want to join Russia. That is a different case. Easy to rule over Russians than non-Russians. This is why Putin won't touch Western-Ukraine or Europe in general.
