Its called controlled opposition. You can either fight your opponent or become your opponent. Its like corporations that don't fight the regulators, they become the regulators.

@mackelby1 I think the alphabets have been largely taken over by "progressives". When the alphabets were ran by capitalists pre Obama they would rig elections in Latin America for capitalist leaders like Pinochet. Lately you have seen a lot of socialists winning questionable elections in South America. Progressives, or whatever you want to call them, were not against the things the right was doing, they just wanted to be the ones with the power to do the same things.
