  1. Its because they are talking about themselves not about you or others. When they say "Trump is a threat to OUR democracy" they mean it. You are not a part of "OUR". When thy say diversity is a strength they mean its a strength for them because it makes them richer and everyone else poor.

  2. Its rich liberals who say that and for them it is a strength because they are able to create all the bad policy that makes them richer and others poorer. Countries like El Salvador are already corrupt so they don't need diversity. Democrats want the voters who created those corrupt countries.
