  3. In the past democrats were scared to support things like lgbtq because they thought it would turn away the black vote. After Obama came out in support of gay marriage and only lost 2% of the black vote that was their signal that they could do whatever they wanted and never lose the black vote. They still got the black vote no matter what but now they are starting to lose Latino and Caucasian.
