Not in NJ. NJ is a "duty to retreat state". If someone breaks into your home, you have to try and run away. If you defend yourself, you will be charged with homicide, and have to prove you could not run away.

@Heatherly3102 Thats not what the internets says. The internet says, you are never permitted to use deadly force, if you do you will be charged with a crime and you will have to prove in court it was necessary. And you have to ask the criminal to stop.
