  50. They borrowed free money the past 10 yrs and saw it as free money. Federal reserve ratio is still 0%. They made it 0 intentionally. If they want to really stop inflation they would not just increase rates they would increase reserve ratios. 10% is historical but let's be honest most of them are far beyond that. And likely have over 100 to 1. 0 reserve ratio means infinite money leverage no matter the rates it just means much more volatility up or down. So they borrow for much much cheaper from fed to buy everything while taking in deposits paying them 0 and parking at fed reverse repo to steal more. By default all deposits should be at the min federal reserve rates no exceptions. But that isn't the case now is it? Some may steal less some may steal more but all of the banks are crooks.
