I used to think everyone Asian I see was a Chinese before 2008 in the U.S. until I asked few Asians if they were Chinese and they all said NO and then I asked myself “why?” and I tried to figure out the answer. I figured out the reason why I was guessing wrong was that it was US policy to exclude the Chinese immigrants in the US and the Asians I was seeing was US “allies” Asian nations when they say “they are from Korea” it was South Korea and their wouldn’t be any North Koreans since they are not “US allies” then after 2008 US recession made the US to open their borders to Chinese wealthy people and now again they are the majority of Asians in the US. “Assuming every Asian being Chinese as being racist” I wouldn’t consider it as a racist thing I’m Somali and almost every time someone mistakes me for being “Ethiopian” even though “Ethiopia” and Somalia are regional adversaries. Even “Ethiopians” themselves think I’m one of them and I don’t take no offensive at all I just say “No, I’m not”
