In somalia especially old Somalia (i don't know if it still happens) they used Berlin Sterlin Tehran Mecca Medina Europe Asia (Of course they pronounced and spelled those names little differently) As female names I doubt most of the people who named their daughters those names knew those names were the names of cities and locations.
