  1. Repeal of the Dublin regulation signals to all member states that a migrant quota system is likely to be instigated to ensure an even distribution of migrants between the EU member states. This will likely have two effects: It will force migrants onto member states who have so far avoided their presence. It will force migrants to register in states which are not their preference. Both the above with produce extreme feelings of resentment and result in civil unrest. The French would like an excuse to establish a defence force to guard the EU border, with the force subject to central control by the French.

  2. It is beginning to look as if the EU has no choice but to repatriate all economic migrants and attempt to solve their problems in the country of origin. The EU will not survive the repeal of the Dublin regulation policy, since the implication is its replacement with a forced quota system. Forcing member states to take a fix fraction of the economic migrants cross the EU border. There are a number of member states who will refuse to comply with a quota system.
