  1. The EU has indicated it has plans for alternative arrangements for the Irish border, other than imposing a hard border. It appears these plans will only be made public when the UK leaves the EU without a deal. If the EU has a plan for an alternative to a hard border it should publish it now. (With reference to the risks to the UK of leaving without a deal, the EU should note that there will be a drastic reduction in EU imports to the UK. The application of WTO trade tariffs will only aid the rebalancing of the UK economy towards increased self sufficiency and supporting local producers, such as UK farmers. If anything, the application of tariffs will provide a much overdue leveling of the trade playing field, greatly strength into ( out of necessity) the UK economy in the medium to long term.
