Comments by "Nigel Johnson" (@nigeljohnson9820) on "EU will 'react' if UK continues to make unilateral decisions on Brexit, says MEP" video.
The eu may yet find itself on the wrong side to the US. All the US is concerned about is the GFA. By failing to take account of the views of the loyalists in NI,the eu risks putting the GFA at risk, something the US will not like. Insisting that the UK enforce the sea border, against the will of the loyalists, will force the uk to put the military back on the streets in Ireland, something neither the US or the Republicans will want.

@naughtiusmaximus7103 the us is only concerned with preserving the GFA, it is the eu who is risking the agreement by not respecting the views of the loyalists in NI. How do you think the Americans will react to uk military on the streets of Belfast again, forced there to protect the eu sea border.

@naughtiusmaximus7103 you are assuming that the us will side with the EU, that may not be the case. The US stated concern is the GFA. The eu is placing it in jeopardy, which maybe why it is showing signs of backing down. The us could apply financial pressure to the UK, but it would be pointless if it does not unionist violence in NI. What would the US expect the UK to do, put soldiers back on the streets in Belfast to protect the eu sea border. If a few nationalist terrorists can stop a land border, the same must be true of a similar number of loyalist terrorists. The EU must be careful what it wishes for, as it may end up with the liabilities of NI, freeing the rest of the UK in the process. Imagine EU troops policing Belfast.

@naughtiusmaximus7103 The UK cannot be held accountable for the actions of the loyalists in NI. they have already said the GFA is in danger as a result of EU attempts to force the UK to uphold the unworkable protocol. The UK has already said that SAS will be used to protect border posts, and there are reports they are already back in NI. I don't think the US will be happy to support the EU if it means the UK military will be back in NI keeping the peace. The UK will not rejoin the EU, or submit to any form of customs union. the best the EU can hope for is some form of goods markings that keep imports from the UK in NI.
