The Germans are use to giving orders, it will be funny watching the top job go to a Frenchman, even better knowing that Germany will still be the largest contributor to the EU budget. It will be hilarious if Barnier become the leader and uses his characteristics supercilious tone to tell the Germans what they can and can't do.

@ecoluxurygroup2598 I did not say you the people need an empire, I said the Macron wants the EU to be an empire, lead by the French. The are two reasons, one for the glory of France, an archaic notion that still exists in some parts of a the French establishment. But the predominant reason is money. The money for big business. The money that all be generated for the French military industrial complex by supplying weapons to other EU member states. The money associated with natural resources that will be protected by EU military and political power. Yes the banks will be involved, because they hold the purse strings for big business.

@josedourado3747 English born and bred, living in Cambridgeshire England. So you are wrong. But it is interesting to see how well German politician fit their stereotype.

@agesilausii7759 up to now it was not necessary, the Germans were the tatula leaders of the EU. It is only recently that German authority has been challenged by the French and by the rise of the power of the Eurocrats.

@Diabolo0011 nonsense, you are just as corrupt and power hunger as every one else. I am really tired of hearing the EU propaganda of how nobel and well managed the EU is run. It does not take much digging to uncover corruption and internal power struggles, with petty, and not so petty, fraud and vested self interest just as prevalent as it is in Westminster.

@agesilausii7759 you do like to put words in my mouth or rather read what I have not written, you are as bad as the android spell checker that likes changing what I have written. Where did I mention Sorros? Where did I say that the Germans are behind every thing? It seems to me it is you who lack proof. You cannot deny that for years now Germany has lead the EU with Merkel acting as the leader. Nothing much happens in the EU without German approval. One only needs to look at the key players in the Greek financial crisis. If anything my comments were directed against the French, or more particularly Macron. It is Macron who is driving the EU federal super state ambitions, but he would not be doing this without expecting to replace Merkel as the titular leader of the EU. Merkel has been a lot more circumspect, as she is aware of Germany's past and is not keen to fund French imperial ambitions.

@josedourado3747 I also appear on the BBC,C4, CNN, NBC and Euronews to name but a few. If you had read my posts on RT, you will know they are extremely critical of Putin. I attack corrupt globalists where ever I find them, so which globalist do you troll for?

@agesilausii7759 the Germans did very nicely out of the Greek economic crisis. Much of the money loaned to Greece was returned to German banks as debt repayments. It has been reported that Barnier sort Germany approval for the UK Brexit deal and much of the content was written by Merkel. As to UK paying for EU states who are in trouble, the UK made a significant contribution to the Republic of Ireland bail out and pays into the EU fund used to provide bailout money. So it is likely that the UK contributed to the Greek bailouts. (I have just checked, UK did not bail out Greece as it was in the eurozone, however it did act as a guarantor on the Greek debt should Greece have defaulted, this would have let the German banks off the hook. The UK did bailout the Republic of Ireland and Portugal to the tune of £6.5 billion.)

@agesilausii7759 most of the EU states are sheep and follow sheep herder Merkel.

@snowyowel7961 I think you will find the US does exactly the same. Its all about building a federation where the citizens owe the loyalty to the federation over the state. It has take the us 200 plus years, and they have still not got it right and they predominantly speak the same language. In Macron's case, he wants to build a federation lead by France, he is really building an empire.

@James Berry it maybe over for Merkel and Macron, however I think those behind the EU super state project are considerable more tenacious. They have suffered a number of set backs of late, but the project is not dead, just on hold.

@James Berry those who can make money from its existence. It s no doubt seen as a business opportunity by some, iris an ideological project for others, those who will be in a position to rule. The world is dividing up into big power blocks, there are those in the EU who want it to be one.
