If there is any hint of empire, it is the eu who that is empire building. If there is any EU unity, it is similar to that of a flock of sheep, huddled together for mutual assurance, as the the wolves circle their pray.

If Tusk thinks brexit is about nostalgia for the British empire, then he is deluded and really does not understand brexit at all. It is not about lost of empire, but being trapped inside someone else's. If there is a hint of empire building it is being done by an undemocratic, directorial EU.

@lucianmacandrew1001 it may have escaped your notice, but the UK has been living beyond its means for years. In past years it funded its day to day debts from the fire sale of its assets, now it is funding itself on credit. It is in a debt spiral and remaining in the EU is not an option as a result. The UK must rebalance its economy to make a profit, this it can not do in the constraints of the EU. Better for the natives to face up to this reality now than when the debt is even bigger. It is a case of short term pain to obtain long term gain.

@lucianmacandrew1001 so it will be good for UK tourism, not so good for that of the EU. That's OK then, more money coming into the UK less leaking out to the EU.
