Fewer goods at higher prices from the EU. That means fewer sales and a significant reduction of imports from the EU, excellent news.

@indogoUI the EU applies tariffs of up to 40% on food imported into the EU.

@Innoruuk I suspect that EU rules stop us buying outside the EU. I suggest that you worry about EU issues and leave us to deal with affairs that are no longer of any concern of the EU. Maybe you should be worrying about what you are going to do with 4 million new migrants or how you are going to balance the EU budget without funds from the UK.

@indogoUI not a correction if the EU tariff barriers make imports uncompetitive. That is EU rules stopping imports, for all intents and purposes.

@Innoruuk You realise that there countries outside the EU. some selling food a lot cheaper than the EU. Not only that, but uk farmers need the incentive to grow more for the local market. I do not think the UK will starve. it may improve our diet, given that we will be consuming fresher food. EU farmers are going to have a hard time growing anything, given the change in climate.

@chillrelaxsounds-freemusic1753 I doubt it, in fact the EU might have a problem filling the gap. More importantly, the uk financial service sector has grown far too big. The uk economy needs a reason to rebalance its economy away from financial services. You are welcome to take them, as they have been shown to be a poisoned challis, taking the bulk of the profits in the good times and wanting the tax payer to fund their losses. Then there is the little matter of EU investments in the UK. Anything that damages the UK has a knock on affect on EU investments in the UK. We may yet decide to make ownership of UK fixed assets far less attractive for foreign investors. We are now free to set rules and regulations that will impact on exported profits.

@Innoruuk I doubt it, I think you will need more luck with your 4 million migrants.

@derbaeumaed8158 if anyone is shaking down African countries it is the EU.

@indogoUI there is a difference to being able to import form any country and the EU making it uneconomical to do so. Free of EU control we can now buy from any country. The EU also applies restriction on some imports from third countries, but the tariff barriers are sufficient to force purchases from other member states. So this is not really a correction more a clarification.

@indogoUI "of you" ??? I think you protest too much. You know the intention of the tariffs and they effectively block imports from third countries. No doubt we will do the same for anything our farmers can produce, that includes products from the EU.
