Belarus is just following the example of Turkey that did the same. The eu only real defence is to remove the benefits that attract the migrants.

@malamutmadre4930 the west can remove the attraction by removing benefits for economic migrants. Taking legal action against those who arrive illegally, deporting them and applying a life time ban on citizen ship. Note, I make a distinction between legal and illegal economic migrants and those seeking asylum from life threatening situations. It is clearly better for economic migrants to remain in their country of origin and improve it. All migrants must respect the culture of the country in which they settle. There are some migrants who come from broken countries, and a few who were responsible for breaking it. These people are not welcome if they simply wish to break the host country.

@nostro1940 it is difficult to function in a new country if your right to be there restricts what you can do. No housing, no work, no bank account, no access to services, and the authorities actively looking to deport you and a permanent ban on gaining citizenship.

@nostro1940 those using such illegal labour should face the full force of the law, with huge fines, confiscation of assets, and seizure of proceeds of crime. Those who provide accommodation should expect forfeiture of their property.
