The EU should think very carefully if they want a Eurosceptic UK to return to the EU as a full member. Just imagine how disruptive and destructive the UK could be as a full member.

Doug Bevins in most cases the empire was given away, largely because it became too expensive to maintain following the costs of WWII. I will not accept criticism of the evils of empire from an EU empire builder, particularly when a number of EU member states still retain their empire colonies by force. The British empire did some horrible things, but so did those of other EU member states, the French, Dutch, Portuguese and even the Germans. It is arguable if the British given up their empire or if it was taken away. It was likely a combination of both, together with a popular recognition that empires are bad thing. Shame it is a lesson the French have yet to learn and a lesson the EU needs to be taught.

@josedourado3747 you have not read the EU constitution, if the UK votes to revoke article 50 then it returns to the EU as a full member as if it had never left. A requirement if the EU wants to continue to receive the UK membership fee. Something the EU desperately needs at the moment. So there will be no punishment for the UK, but the EU will certainly need to forget any ideas of further integration or an EU army, as the UK will have a veto as a full member. By the time we are finished, the EU will wish they had let the UK go.
