  3.  @ettoreatalan8303  Putin is being played by President Xi, who is looking supportive noises, without offering real support. It is not in China's interest for Putin to win his war. Better that it uses up NATO resources and then Putin losers his war. In the turmoil that will follow in Russia, China will be able to pick up both Russian natural resources and territory. Putin thinks he is building a new Russian empire, in practice he is building the new China's empire. It won't be the first time Russia has been betrayed by a close ally and bosom pal, Hitler did something very similar to Starlin, for very similar reasons.
