Comments by "Nigel Johnson" (@nigeljohnson9820) on "Macron: Poland, Germany and France to lead Europe after Brexit" video.
The title is in reverse order, and does not necessarily reflect the expected influence, interesting that Spain did not get a mention. Glad to see the EU is an organisation of equals, just some are more equal than others.

@gregsweet9552 so its self promotion then...

@gregsweet9552 Poland may see them as that, but will anybody else. It is the same with the French who want to be seen as the military centre of Europe.

@derbaeumaed8158 again you miss the point, they all have a colonial past, but also a colonial present. Some hide the fact by calling them overseas territories.

@Frankly Frank according to your narrative it was British nationalism that resulted to WWII, nothing to do with Adolf Hitler or the Nazis. Poor Germany was the victim of UK aggression, I think the polish would be forced to disagree, along with a lot of the current member states of the EU. As I have already pointed out, German recovery had lot to do with external help and the fact that after WWII the Germans were not allowed to spend on military hardware. There was also the advantage of being forced to replace all factory equipment with new as the old had been completely destroyed.

@imluvinyourmum the Dutch just keep a low profile, as do many of the other member states.

@gregsweet9552 the question is who elected Poland to lead the eastern block, or is this a case of self promotion? Let's face it, it is the Germans and the want to be French who lead the EU, the others just do as they are told.

@derbaeumaed8158 it would appear that the EU is a less popular place for the US, being torn as it is between Russia and the US. It will make a change for the UK to be a dumping ground for the us rather than the EU. The difference is that with the americans we have a choice on what we accept. When in the EU, its rules forced us to accept any rubbish the EU want to sell us. One must hope that all those migrants who travel through the countries of the EU to get to the UK, agree with your assement and chose the EU as their final destination, rather than the UK.

@derbaeumaed8158 no what almost wrecked our economy was a europhile UK Chancellor who wanted to mirror the euro, failing to understand that a one size fits all currency is destined for failure. The euro is now being propped up by QE and negative interest rates. The EU banks are still sitting a mountain of bad debt and still no federal control of the euro zone.

@derbaeumaed8158 I am glad you finally recognise the EUs responsibility for the UK's problems. Post Brexit, the EU is not that important to us. I should point out that you replied to my post not the other way round.

@derbaeumaed8158 you can't rule out neo colonialist policies, you will offend the French, Spanish and Portuguese. Not to mention the new colonialist EU, with policies resembling the star trek Borg: We are the EU, you will be assimilated. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

@Frankly Frank first size was the reason for the demise of the dinosaurs. I don't think the UK was ever dependent on Germany. The Germans have never really rejected their culture of Aryan superiority. The origins of the EU can be traced to the need to appease German belligerence. The idea being to make the states of Europe so co-dependent they could not wage war against each other with damage to their own self interest. Even now any suggestion that the EU might disband is met with claims that this would lead to war in Europe. The subtext is that if Germany is not given what it wants, it will return to its war mongering ways. In practice it appears to be the French who have military imperial ambitions for the EU. The Germans think they are doing nicely as it is and have no wish or reason to rock the boat. Unfortunately for the Germans current prosperity is not a guide to future wealth. There storm clouds on the horizon, not least from an resurgent post brexit Britain. The UK paid a very heavy price for standing up to the Nazi regime, for a period alone. It was only relatively reciently that the UK paid off its war debts to the US. Germany maybe big, but it is also very clumsy, its technology is expensive and over engineered. As it grew, post unification it expected to rule the EU, it did not expect to pay for it. For a long time it benefited from not having to provide for its own defence and not being allowed and very reluctant to be seen involved in any military adventures, the same advantage that Japan enjoyed. In political time scales, the current state is relatively new and it is already looking unstable.

@Frankly Frank it is really not necessary to read beyond the first line of your post, there are two world wars and a genocide to prove you wrong.
