A general election is not equivalent to a referendum because it is a multi issue vote. It cannot be used as a mandate for or against Brexit.

@elwynjones763 by definition it cannot be, no matter how the politicians try and spin it. All they are doing is setting the country up for yet more calls to leave. The direction in which the EU is heading should ensure that it's populations become disenchanted with the EU.

@bradleygriffiths141 I decided I would not vote, even though the conservatives were the only party offering something resembling Brexit. I did not want to add to the mandate for a party that cannot be trusted to deliver a true Brexit. While the result shows the public were fed up with parliament's attempt to block Brexit, it is not clear how Boris is going to implement it. His deal differs little from that of Mrs May. At least I cannot be accused of voting for it.
