  1. Dare parliament vote against the people's referendum vote? If they do it will call into question the democratic credentials of both parliament and the EU. The voters will certainly punish the politicians at the ballot box. A Eurosceptic party will certainly win the next general election. It is likely to be too late to hold a second referendum and the EU is unlikely to delay brexit to allow for a general election, particularly as this is very unlikely to clarify the UK brexit position. A general election will be too late to stop a no deal brexit. If the UK remains in the EU, the government will be held responsible for policy and directive that the EU forces on the UK. It will also be held responsible for the chaos that will follow the violent breakup of the EU at some time in the future.
