  2. So the Iranians have fallen for a US/UK trap. The US will now be able to take whatever action it wants, with the full backing of the international community. It make the Iranians nothing more than pirates under international law. The EU will be force to withdraw support for the nuclear deal and comply with US sanctions, and all it cost was one oil tanker.

  3.  Jan Schlossar  I did not say the EU would be fighting iran, or anyone else to that matter. The EU does not fight, it lacks the means to do so. What I said is that it too will abandon the nuclear deal as it now has the excuse to do so.

  4.  @deepdiver849  you might be right, but I think not as Spain was informed before the UK seized Iranian tank, so the EU is part of the planning. The question is which does the EU value the most; trade with the US or the Iranian nuclear deal. Having signed the deal, the EU wants to be seen as honouring it, but it also wants to trade with the US, what better way out than find a reason to escape from the nuclear deal by blaming Iran. This is not a UK operation, it is being instigated by the EU and US. The UK is just acting as a willing agent. Maybe it is payback for holding Ratcliffe as a spy/hostage. It was suggested that was really about Iranian money paid for UK armaments that were not delivered.
