  1. Those who set these fires should not profit from the destruction they cause. The penalties for burning the rain forest should reflect the serious nature of the crime. The crime is the attempted murder of everyone on the planet. Given all the pain and suffering they have caused it is tempting to suggest that a fitting punishment would be to parachute them into the centre of the inferno they created.
